A working prototype, this design was developed to show online data (tidal shift) in a tangible and experiential way. Each rod represents an hour, with the first being the current time. Aluminium indicators slide around the seamless timber rods using a magnetic mechanism to replicate the wave form of tidal representation. At a glance, one can find out what the current tide, weather it is coming in or going out, and when low / high tide will be. The first image indicates that it is currently mid low tide moving up, and high tide will be in 2 hours, while the second image indicates it is currently high tide, and it will be low in 4 hours. The electronics are driven by stepper motors programmed with Arduino.
